As dusk fell and the full moon began to rise above the horizon, the headman reappeared and beckoned the edgy anthropologists to a raised platform in the centre of the village. As they sat down, drums began to beat from the surrounding jungle. Then the Makanorang emerged from the edges of the jungle carrying long pointed sticks. The anthropologists fingered the revolvers in their pockets nervously. The Makanorang slowly encircled them, then stopped abruptly. The headman looked at the trembling anthropologists and smiled. Then he raised his hand and shouted, "You put your left foot in ... "
